" Focus on Palestine "
At the beginning
of decade 1960, in spite of invention of cinema near about 70
years in west; the cinema was not known enough at the Middle
East.
Especially regarding to the Arab Cinema, there were only few
commercial films which produced first at Egypt and after that in
Lebanon.
The necessity of cinema with the valuable identity was approved
when some political changes happened in Egypt and also the
independence of Algeria was announced.
By beginning the Palestinians' combats and also after the defeat
of June 1967; the Palestinian Cinema was born.
This cinema was the result of the growing the political
awareness of the people and also the necessity of reflection the
people's fighting.
Not only the Palestinians and Arabs but also non Arabic
countries for the first time produced the films which support
the national values of the Palestinians.
The first festival of the Palestinian cinema which held on 1973
caused to organize the activities of filmmakers.
The Palestinian film society was established. The Palestinian
filmmakers were gathered.
The Palestinian Cinema has become a medium to support the
Palestinians fighting for achieving the freedom.
Finally the filmmakers could succeed to reflect the Palestinians
fighting and problems worldwide.
