Born in Tehran in 1952, he is a graduate in French
Literature. Began his artistic and literary career by
writing stories. Then he became a member of Film and Series
Group in IRIB (1981 to 1986), during which he wrote some TV
plays and series. At the same time, he was the manager of
Foreign Films Section of Channel 1. Since 1983, he began
writing film articles and satire and short stories in
newspapers, and from 1989 publishes a film magazine named
"Culture and Cinema", which himself is its supervisor and
chief editor. In 1986, he organized and administered the
program of Iranian Youth Film Festivals, trying to develop
the film culture and discover new young talents, and managed
many festivals of this kind till 1990. From 1992 to 1995, he
was head of Cinematic Research Department of Islamic
Guidance and Culture Ministry, and conducted some research
works while being a member of Managing Council of Cinematic
and Audio-Visual Affairs of this ministry.
In 1983, he established the Society of Film Critics and
Writers in collaboration with some other film magazine
editors and writers. After issuing its manifest, its first
session was begun in the House of Cinema, and he was elected
as its first manager. He was a member of the preparatory
council of the Holy Defense Film Festival, member of the
jury of the competition section of the tenth Fajr
International Film Festival. He was also a member of the
selection committee of the last four sessions of this
festival, and twice a member of the jury of the Youth Film
Festival.
He was for some time a member of the High Research Council
of Islamic Guidance and Culture Ministry.
Samadi Moghaddam has published two books "The Mermaid" and
"The Bottom of the World". He had been manager of Cultural
Statistics Program, in 1998.
