Born in 1955 in Rostam Abad, he began his artistic career
while in high school, by participating in school theatrical
groups and making shorts in Damavand Azad Cinema. This was
followed later by educating in drama and play arts in
Dramatic and Fine Arts Faculty, and making some documentary
and fiction shorts for IRIB.
In his student times, he made his first semi-feature “The
Spectacles” for the Chennel 2 of IRIB.
His first feature film “The Fish” was made in 1988. He then
made “Golnar”, “The Cat Singer”, “Adult Game”, “The Two
Sisters”, and “Nanny Lala and Her Children”.
He also has written screenplays for “Shirak” (Darioush
Mehrjouii), “The Sergeant” (Masoud Kimiaii), “The Circle” (Jafar
Panahi), “The Unfinished Story” (Maziar Miri), “The Deserted
Station” (Alireza Raiisian), and “I, Taraneh, am 15 years
old” (Rasoul Sadr-Ameli).
