After graduating as film director from the "HFF- Konrad Wolf" Film School in Potsdam, Germany, Firas started in 1993 at Syrian Television. Later he was Chairman of directors (2002-2004) and Head of Production Department (2005-2007) as a representative of the new generation.
His works have won international awards in Tunis, Tokyo, Cairo, Barcelona and Teheran and he was Jury member in international Film and TV Festivals in Isfahan, Tunis, Bahrain, Plovdiv (Bulgaria) and Munich.

In cooperation with the famous German Children Foundation "PRIX JEUNESSE INTERNATIONAL", Dehni has organized workshops on "Quality Children's Television" for participants from throughout the Arab world.
As part of one workshop, he created the pan-Arab film project, "Trip to My City".
He was the first Arab-Moderator ever at Prix Jeunesse Festival und he serves now as the representative of Prix Jeunesse to the Arab Region.
In the Years 2001-2004 he was Instructor at the Higher Institute for Drama in Damascus.
His Film and TV- works varies between Dramas and Documentaries for children, adolescents and adults.
