Bell, the Director of "Here I Lie"
I Want to Show My Films to All People
A
British filmmaker, Neil bell is director of "Here I Lie", which is
Selected ind Spiritual Competition of Tehran Film Festival. “I just
arrived from Russia, and I am going to go to Berlin and then to
Estonia. Sometime I forget were I am”, said Bell in an interview
with daily bulletin of film festival. “British council, which is a
major distributor in UK, submitted my film to this festival, and it
is interesting to see my film is selected in Spiritual competition
section”, he added. Bell has made three short films, and currently,
he is doing a short film and a feature film. He was working for
Channel 4 in England for a while. Bell made a documentary film for
this channel, which nominated for Documentary BAFTA award The
(English Oscar). Bell’s real job is not filmmaking. He is an
architect. The 43-year-old filmmaker believes that the mind should
be young. “It does not matter how old you are, I want to show my
films to all people of the world”. It does not make any difference,
where it is. I am eager to know what people think about it. When a
film festival screen a film, the director is to be recognized as
someone who has something to tell”, he added.
“My films have not yet been awarded in any festival. However, the
audience selected one of my film at a festival in Italy”.
Bell is familiar with cinema of Iran.” I had seen films by
Kiarostami and Makhmalbaf, especially, “The Apple” directed by
Samira Makhmalbaf witch I liked too much. Therefore, I decided to
come to Iran and talk to Iranian filmmakers, and see Iranian films.
