Born in 1951 in Ahwaz.He started 8mm filmmaking at the Ahwaz
chapter of the Free Cinema Group in 1970. He began
professional filmmaking with the " Rhythm of the Train" in
1976 . His films have won numerous prizes at international
festivals include Lucarno prize for The Abadanis. His short
films include , The Reflection (1971), The Trap (1972) ,
Beyond the Fire (1973), The Hunt (1974), The Mad Man and the
Kid (1975), River of Poison (1975), Dust of the Rain (1976),
The Summer Song (1977), The Breaths (1979), The Three-Part
Sweet Earth (1980), and the animation, The Encounter. His
Feature films are , Whirl of the Demon (1985), Specter of
the scorpion (1986), Beyond the Fire (1987), Bull's Horn
(1991), The Abadanis (1992), To Be or Not to Be (1999), The
Persian Feast (2001), Wake up Arezu! (2004).
