Mick Hannigan has a long involvement with cultural cinema
since he founded a 16mm film club in 1985. He has been
director of the Cork Film Festival since 1986, during which
time he was also Cinemas Director of the Irish Film Centre.
He has served on the boards of the Irish Film Institute and
the Irish Film Board and was Chairman of the Federation of
Irish Film Societies.
He has a particular interest in the art of short film and
has served on many short films juries, including Regensburg
(Germany),Tampere (Finland),Tirana(Albania) and Grimstad (Norway).He
recently organized an International Short Film Symposium in
Cork.
