Ali Bitarafan


Ali Bitarafan, born 1967 in Qom, he began his career in 1981 by entering the theater group of the educational affairs in Qom as actor and director. He then inclined to filmmaking and made his first 8 mm film “Annulment” in 1984, and later made “Valfajr”, “Simar”, “Wheelchair”, “The Caravan’s Bell”, “Daddy Gave Bread”, and “The Holes”. He finally graduated in the field of film direction.
His works include: “The Wheelchair”, “The Pilgrim”, “The Father”, “The Messenger”, The Homework”, “The Friend’s Alley”, “The Rain”, “Golbaft”, “Ab-o-Khak (The Homeland)”, “Viokahan”, “Baa, Baa, Baa, Means We Are Hungry”, “Like the Sea”, the 13-part series “Osveha”, the 13-part series “The Wars of the Prophet”, the 20-part series “40 Lands of Watching”, some documentaries and documentary-fictions like “The Verses of Quran as Viewed through the Mirror of Art”, “The Epic of 17 Khordad”, “Kowsar-e-Kavir”, “The Presence”, “Our Iran”, and also many social, religious and cultural TV programs.
He has been a teacher of film direction in IYCS (Qom Branch), the Islamic Youth Education of the Red Crescent, and the Club of the Young Reporters.
He has been a member of the selection board of the 18th Tehran Short Film Festival, a juror of the 3d Martyr Avini Biennale (Oroomieh), a member of the selection board of the 2d Omid Film Festival (Ghazvin), and some provincial theater and film festivals.
