Andriy Khalpakhchi trained in civil engineering in his
native Kyiv. From the time he completed his studies (1977)
until 1991 he taught 1991 at Kyiv’s Institute of Civil
Engineering. He was written a number of books about this
field, and also books on film. In 1986 he became a member of
the Kyiv film club Dialogue and in 1991-1992 he worked for
the Ukrainian State Film Fund. He has been the Program
director of the Kyiv IFF Molodist since 1992 and its General
Director since 1993.In 1995 he taught at Kyiv Institute of
Theater Art-Film and TV Department. He has sat on the jury
of a number of International film festivals.
